GCF’s litigation teamtobacco served as co-counsel in the first ever trial in Indian River County that sought to hold Big Tobacco responsible for the death of a smoker who became addicted to cigarettes many years before warning labels were introduced.  The trial exposed the decades-long fraud perpetuated by Big Tobacco on the American public in an effort to hook teenagers on cigarettes while knowing the harmful effects of smoking, but concealing this information from the public.  The trial which ended on March 26, 2015, and resulted in  a verdict of $2 million for the deceased smoker’s estate.
