Christopher H. Marine is a lifelong Vero Beach resident and a highly respected member of the Treasure Coast community. He serves as Chairman of our firm’s Real Estate Group. Mr. Marine has the distinct honor of holding an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating issued by the largest and most complete ratings registry of lawyers in the world.

Mr. Marine has practiced with Gould Cooksey Fennell his entire career. His connection to the community drew him to develop a real estate law practice, and he now has 40 years of experience in the area of real property, including residential and commercial transactions, construction and development, marina sales and purchase, zoning and land use regulation, and corporate/commercial law and lending. Projects of note include Palm Island Plantation, The Strand, Marsh Island Club, Harmony Reserve, The Fountains Medical Complex and Boulevard Tennis Village.

In addition to his extensive real property practice, Mr. Marine has developed a secondary practice emphasis in mitigation banking, negotiated and regulatory conservation easement grants, and related transactional services. Mr. Marine has represented and managed mitigation bank projects in Indian River, Duval/St. Johns, Osceola and Volusia Counties.

In addition to the law practice, Mr. Marine remains committed to his roots within the Vero Beach business and civic community. He is a Board Member of the Indian River Land Trust, and Chairman of its Stewardship Committee, which manages well over 1000 acres of conservation lands. He also serves on its Executive Committee and Land Acquisition Committee. He is a past President and current member of the Indian River County Real Property Council. He has also served as Chairman and member of both the Board of Adjustment/Appeal for the City of Vero Beach, and the Indian River County Board of Zoning Adjustment/Appeal.

Notable Settlements and Verdicts

Plaintiff was operating a small motorcycle/scooter when a 91 year old man turned left in front of him hitting him essentially head on. As a result of the collision, the Plaintiff sustained catastrophic injuries to his lower body, including snapped femurs and fractures to the spine and pelvis. After a two week trial the Indian River County jury returned an award totaling $9.381 million.

Medical negligence claim arising out of a breach in the standard of care by a physician and hospital in which an incorrect, corrosive chemical was used during a gynecological procedure, resulting in acid burns and severe permanent injuries to the Plaintiff.

A Brevard County Jury awarded Plaintiff $6.4M against Defendant State Farm, following an accident that resulted in numerous catastrophic orthopedic injuries, including a below knee amputation of the Plaintiff’s left leg.
